6nt/7days Tour of Thailand
This 7 day tour from Bangkok visits bronze statues and temples at Ayuthaya, the ancient kingdom of Sukhothai, a Hill tribe museum in Chiang Mai and local handicraft factories. Visit a working elephant camp, Orchid farm and traditional hilltribe village. En route to Chiang Rai take a long tail boat trip down the Kok River. Before returning to Bangkok visit the Golden Triangle and the Mekong River.
ITINERARY
DAY 1: BANGKOK – AYUTHAYA – SUKHOTHAI
This morning travel to Ayuthaya former capital of Thailand, to view the gigantic bronze statues of Wat Mongkol Borpith and three ancient pagodas at Wat Phra Srisanpetch and Wat Pranangcheng. Continue via Chainat for lunch then on to Khampheng Phet to view the Buddhist temple ruins at the historical park. Then it is on to the ancient kingdom of Sukhothai for the evening meal and overnight.
DAY 2: SUKHOTHAI – LAMPANG
The visit to Sukhothai, Thailand’s first capital (1257-1379), take in the Historical Park, Ramkamhaeng Museum and Wat Sri Chum. Continue on to Lampang the Burmese style temples of Wat Pa Fang and Wat Si Rong Muang.
DAY 3: LAMPANG – LAMPOON – CHIANGMAI
Depart for Ko Kah to see Wat Phra Dhat Lampang Lung housing an Emerald Buddha. In Lampoon, visit the 12th century Wat Haripoon chai, one of the north’s most sacred monuments. Continue on to Chiang Mai for a visit to the Hill Tribe Museum and local handicraft factories before checking in to your hotel for a two-night stay.
DAY 4: CHIANG MAI
After breakfast, visit some of Chiang Mai’s most interesting temples, including the magnificent Doi Suthep tucked away in the mountains at 1,056 meters above sea level. Lunch is at a local restaurant and the afternoon is at leisure. This evening enjoy a “kantoke†dinner, a traditional Thai style dinner, accompanied by ancient northern Thai dances and songs performed by the local hilltribes
DAY 5: INTO HILLTRIBE COUNTRY
Visit a working elephant camp where you can join an optional elephant ride. Continue on to a Orchid Farm and then to a Meo Hilltribe Village. The afternoon is free before a BBQ dinner around a camp fire followed by a presentation of Meo dances and songs
DAY 6: KOK RIVER CRUISE – CHIANG RAI
Depart for Fang and Thaton via the Meo Hilltribe Village of Huay Luek. In Thaton embark on long-tailed boats down the Kok River stopping to visit tiny hilltribe villages.
DAY 7: CHIANG RAI – BANGKOK
An early morning departure to the Golden Triangle and the Mekong River where the borders of Thailand. Myanmar and Laos meet. Take a short boat trip to Chiang Saen and have lunch in a local restaurant before returning to Chiang Rai for your early afternoon flight to Bangkok
